When in need of a scale for your personal or business needs, it is essential to understand your requirements and what to look for when purchasing to ensure you are selecting the right product for your application. Other factors to consider include, the environment, the capacity, whether or not trade approval is required and after sales support.
Firstly, it is important to be clear on what product is being weighed. NUWEIGH offers solutions in the weighing of all products and industries, such as: livestock, waste and recycling, fresh produce, logistics, health & medical, mining, manufacturing, finance and banking, chemicals and many more.
Secondly, consider if the scale will require specific functions, such as:
NWS NUWEIGH is licensed to verify for NMI (National Measurement Institute) Trade Approval which permits the user to sell goods in any industry where the price of the goods is based upon the weight of the product.
The capacity is the maximum weight that will be measured by a specific scale. When selecting the right scale for your requirements, it is important to be clear on the heaviest product you intend on weighing. This will determine the scales maximum capacity however; it is recommended a tolerance is allowed to avoid overloading the load cell and potentially causing damage to the weighing device.
The increments of the scale refers to the minimum division the scale will display, for example 1gram, 1kg 0.1kg etc. This is important for confirming the accuracy required for the particular application.
Calibration is a process that ensures the scale is weighing accurately by using a known mass. At NWS NUWEIGH we use REG13 accredited weights to calibrate our scales and at our NATA accredited laboratory we can provide NATA endorsed calibration services when required. We also have the facilities to perform on-site calibrations with our test trucks equipped with high capacity test masses. Every product is put through a rigorous quality assurance process which involves calibration by our technicians and the completion of a client pre dispatch check list. Throughout this process we test for linearity, repeatability and eccentricity.
NWS NUWEIGH supplies a calibration certificate with every scale sold. A calibration certificate is a report that documents the process and completion of a successful calibration. Due to variations in temperature, ageing, movement and general wear we recommend calibration occurs every 12 months and once this process is completed,
a new certificate is issued noting the results, specifics of the scale and date undertaken.
Next consider the environment, do you require a portable scale? Will the scale be subject to the weather or harsh elements? Will high pressure/ high temperature wash down be applied? NWS NUWEIGH can facilitate, customise and modify our scales and weighing systems to suit any specific environments.
